ASV

The compact equipment company ASV, Inc. was actually founded by a pair of snowmobile pioneers, Edgar Hetteen (also the founder of Polaris and Arctic Cat) and Gary Lemke. Together, the two men pioneered compact off-road track-driven vehicles in the early 1980s by combining a truck body with rubber crawler tracks. This innovative Track Truck allowed the vehicle to traverse even delicate ground without causing damage, unlike crawler tractors.

To expand their market to other applications, Posi-Track. The Posi-Track included a quick-attach mechanism that allowed it to function as a brush cutter, bulldozer, auger, mower, and more. From there, they branched out into the construction, landscaping, and agricultural industries. Working closely with Caterpillar, ASV developed the rubber-tracked multi-terrain loader, which causes minimal damage to working surfaces.

ASV was eventually purchased by Terex, and they continue to specialize in skid steer loaders and compact track loaders. Their motto is “get more done” and the versatility, power, and capabilities of their machines align well with their motto.
